What a strange week this has been!

What a strange week this has been! I don’t know about you but I find myself living way too much in my head. What I mean by this is that I am always thinking, trying to plan multiple steps ahead on all aspects in life and yet the reality is that right now life is unpredictable and so the only real response can be to be agile.

To look at each challenge that comes up and with a cool calm head deal with them one at a time. I have also noticed that when I am outside now, and lets face it that isn’t much in this strange world, I want to listen to and experience nature, not follow my usual pattern of headphones in, music or blog on.

I can honestly say, and I can hear you shout ‘me too’ when you read this, I have NEVER BEEN ON SO MANY VIDEO TEAMS CALLS IN MY LIFE!! I have loved it. I have been in drop in chats with people around the business who have reached out to me to give feedback or offer suggestions. Somebody said to me this week, and I think it was you Barney Machen from our London team, that it feels like we have been round each others houses even though this is the first real conversation we have had.

There is something about this locked down world we find ourselves in that makes us more human and more open with each other. I have dropped in on pub quizzes and virtual drinks. Its been great! I haven’t yet joined in with Ronny Lommelen’s team’s twice weekly exercise class but hopefully they will let me in soon 😊

I have seen many of our wonderful people’s posts from our the Harvey Nash family across the world. They are inspiring and positive. I have seen teams reach out to each other from different parts of the group to open up opportunities together, the work that Rhona and Frank are leading on with a fantastic team across the UK to help find great people for the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK is rolling on at pace and making great progress.

I meet with the Exco, the leaders of all of the businesses globally, every evening and we share what is happening across the world including emerging support from governments and with our people and our clients. It means we are able to spot trends quickly, collaborate and support each other and the team spirit is just fantastic to be part of.

The team are working at pace to ensure we react to changes in market behaviours, buying trends from clients, address new opportunities quickly that are emerging because of the crisis and that we understand how to draw down on the government funds and schemes designed to support companies through these turbulent times. As a technology recruitment and solutions group we are well placed to support clients around the world as technology becomes ever more relevant and essential to businesses.

This week I was part of the Spinks kick off. A high energy and inspiring few hours spent with people who really understand the world of start up and scale up businesses. They have a strong plan and are hugely focused on making it happen.

You will also have read in today’s InterNashional news that we are giving everyone Friday afternoon off on the 3rd April to spend time with your loved ones or to contribute some time to your community. This is a thank you to everyone from the Exco for all the hard work, focus and great spirit you have displayed throughout these times.

Look after  yourself, your families and each other.

Have a restful weekend

Bev
