Learning, listening and growing

This has been an eventful week for the Harvey Nash Group of businesses. We have been on stage promoting the value that recruitment businesses like ours bring to clients as part of the Staffing Industry Analysts European virtual conference.

We had the external announcements of Rhona as our new Managing Director of the UK North, Ireland and Scotland, and Andy for the UK South, workforce solutions and Public sector.

Our Crimson business won a prestigious award with our training partner Digital Native for Apprenticeship of the Year.

Every business in every geography signed new business and retained existing clients, and great news too as our contractor numbers continue to grow and pipelines across all businesses are developing at pace.

As you are reading this, you are probably building the long list of things to be proud of in the past week too.

Recently NashTech won a Hackathon, you will see more about this soon.

Now, I am not saying everything is perfect in our world. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to make itself known in the communities in which we live and work, and I have spoken to some colleagues who have lost much-loved family and friends to this virus. My heart goes out to all who have been impacted by this terrible disease.

We are learning every day, as we should, about things we are doing well and things we can improve on. We need to keep ourselves honest and, through the gift of constructive feedback, we can learn and develop together.

We have had some colleagues leave us, which rightly makes us sad and we will miss them I am sure.

We have launched our ‘Power Hours’ bite size learning sessions this week, kicking off with how we can “Rock our LinkedIn Profile” and others coming up in the next few weeks, covering many different areas of our working lives. So, development for all of us is firmly at the centre of all we are working on.

Our Diversity and Inclusion Global Council met with its 16 members representing all of us in every geography, business and function. I am so excited by what we can achieve here. I am committed to educate myself, as I hope we all will do, as to how to ensure we have an open, inclusive and diverse group of businesses.

Our careers site is underway and it wont be long before we can share this with everyone. This is supporting the commitment we made to advertising all roles inside our business and externally too so that we can promote the Harvey Nash Group of businesses as a great place to work, learn and grow.

The sales excellence programme, which came as an idea from our Senior Management community, has advanced in its development and soon we will be communicating its goals and how it will operate.

I have continued with my calls with each of the 90 plus Senior Management team community. I have been bowled over by the quality of the conversations and appreciate the time you are making in your very packed schedules. I promise you I am listening.

So, overwhelmingly for me, this week has been a lot about listening, a lot about learning and a lot about growing.

As we head towards the weekend I wish you rest and relaxation. keep safe and well.
