Feeling a bit drained? Time to recharge

In many ways this is a strange time of year. In the northern hemisphere we have longer periods of darkness, often with cold clear skies. In the southern hemisphere summer has come again, although talking yesterday with colleagues in Australia we heard that there had been solid days of rain for some weeks.

Whichever part of the world you live in though I am certain of one thing, that many colleagues are looking forward to a rest during the up-coming festive period. It’s been a long year,  but we have made incredible progress, overcome many challenges and grabbed and run with a wide range of opportunities.

Recharge your batteries

We are in our last quarter of the financial year and last week I spoke in my blog about the budgeting process we are going through to build on the fantastic momentum we have created together. It’s a busy time and there are some days that we all will feel like the batteries are getting low. It’s these times we need to pay attention to what our bodies are telling us and take some time to rest, get some fresh air, do something that helps build back our resilience.

Wellbeing Hub

You may have spotted in the last few days we have been promoting in social media the Wellbeing Hub that colleagues and partners have built to help support us. We have made this Hub freely available to clients, candidates, contractors and genuinely anyone who would find it of help to them. I am reminded that we all need help at times and the Hub is a great place to go and get some support to keep ourselves refreshed and resilient. I will take some time this weekend to visit it myself and I encourage colleagues to do so whenever you feel the need for a lift.

Taking short breaks away from our desks is another important way of helping keep ourselves well. For instance when I take a short stretch of the legs, walk or run I always come back refreshed, often with new ideas. We all have our favoured ways of escaping and giving our bodies a rest.

So, as we head towards the weekend take time to rest and recuperate. Keep safe and well.
