A sobering week

This week has been a sobering one for many reasons but one where I remain optimistic that when we are through these challenging times we will emerge even stronger together.

There is no doubt about it, this worldwide crisis is now impacting people in our Harvey Nash Group family in a deeply personal way. A number of people across the group have sadly lost family and friends and others have people they are close to very unwell. My heart goes out to everyone and my thoughts are with you all.

This week I sent you all an email to explain that like many businesses around the world, as a direct consequence of this crisis we were making some changes to reduce costs across the businesses to protect jobs, protect the sustainability of the business and to ensure that when the bounce back comes we are fit and ready to respond. I would like to thank everyone for the way this challenge has been taken on and that the actions were supported and understood that this is what we needed to do.

We are all working hard to deliver the business, find new opportunities and continue to promote our brands around the world. Everyone is doing their part in every market. I am sent emails every day celebrating new contractors signed or extended, new roles acquired and placed, we have the focused NHS and public sector teams throughout the UK working hard opening up opportunities off the back of our deep expertise, new deals signed by Crimson and NashTech.

Monday started with a Teams call with NashTech’s very recent hire Rick Ferguson in Sydney Australia. This was Rick’s first day in the business and yet the depth of the conversation made it feel like Rick had been here for some time. Great to have him in the Harvey Nash Group family.

I joined the Warsaw’s virtual end-of-month meeting at the end of last week where the team celebrated a wide range of fantastic achievements, all delivered in style and with energy. I felt six inches taller coming off that Teams call, thanks for letting me be part of this.

This week I have been on two virtual panels representing Harvey Nash Group with industry bodies and experts and being asked about leading in tough times and about how our business is doing. I was also interviewed on video for a business leaders series. All of these have been great opportunities to showcase our business and raise the profile of our brands.

As we head to the Easter weekend for some of us around the world I want to wish you all a Happy Easter, enjoy the time and above all keep safe and well.
